Chilling, Killing, and a Little Drilling

When selfish, slovenly, slothful Tilly is reduced to selling her baby teeth for cash, she never counted on the new owner’s necromancy going so bloody wrong. Tilly must fight to get the resulting evil creature under control — and come to terms with her own monstrous personality — before everything she loves is destroyed.

A Toothy Tale

You’d think 25-year-old Tilly would be happier, what with her life of ease bumming around her parents’ house, watching horror movies, and being doted on by a loving dad.

Well, her mother’s a fly in the ointment, given her constant haranguing about something called a “job” and petty things like Tilly “paying her own cell phone bill.” But Mom and Tilly do seem to have finally reached a Mutual Antipathy Pact.

Tilly lying down, lazy in front of the TVs.

So Tilly’s only real problem, besides her annoying younger brother, is a distinct lack of pocket money. Which leads her to sell anything and everything she can lay her hands on. As in: the family silver, mom’s jewelry, her grandmother’s funeral urn. And, eventually, her baby teeth, when she finds them surprisingly tucked away by her normally very unsentimental mother.

A quick exchange of baby teeth for cash — and a teeny, tiny drunken misunderstanding as to whether the previous owner of said teeth is alive or dead — and Tilly’s life is back to its normal, soul-deadening routine.

Well, except that the new owner of the teeth, Helene, is only a semi-competent necromancer. Who inadvertently brings about a rather peculiar creature — and Tilly doppelgänger — instead of raising the dead. Oops! Well, these things happen. (Actually? Not very often. In fact, so rarely that Helene has absolutely no idea how to undo the newly undead doppelgänger.) As in: the family silver, mom’s jewelry, her grandmother’s funeral urn. And, eventually, her baby teeth, when she finds them surprisingly tucked away by her normally very unsentimental mother.

At first, Tilly doesn’t mind having a twin (albeit one with tiny baby teeth and thus a very creepy smile). Why not have the look-alike, who she dubs “Milk Tooth,” take on the mundane tasks of adulthood? That way, Milk Tooth can go to Tilly’s new, mind-numbing job, while Tilly herself continues a life of leisure!

Unfortunately, before long, it becomes clear that Tilly’s plan is turning into one monu-dental disaster. Milk Tooth has a murderous streak, an insatiable appetite for blood, and a distinct preference for victims who are linked to Tilly herself. (Not to mention a burning desire to exchange her crappy little baby teeth for the adult ones currently residing in Tilly’s mouth.)

Tilly quickly realizes this is one hell of a dental emergency. And worse, that she cares a lot more about her world, and the people in it, than she ever dreamed.

Armed with a new and uncomfortable self-awareness, Tilly teams up with her brother and the hapless Helene to stop Milk Tooth before she destroys everything — and everyone — that Tilly holds dear.

MILK TOOTH/TILLY DOPPELGÄNGER
(Ageless, but looks 25)

She looks just like Tilly (other than the creepy baby teeth). But honestly? She already exhibits more ambition and enthusiasm than Tilly ever has… at least when it comes to blood. Although Milk Tooth starts out as a blank slate, once she gets her first taste of the red stu  she’s a ravening, rampaging bloodhound, ready to rip the guts out of anyone she sees. Preferably Tilly’s family, neighbors, boyfriend and eventually, Tilly herself.

HELENE (early 40s)

A not-very-skilled necromancer. She’s scattered, impulsive, hasty, and things have only gotten worse since she lost custody of her daughter. Her motivations are as suspect as her skills, and one thing she shares with Tilly is a complete unwillingness to take responsibility for anything. Including the bloodthirsty fiend now running amok through Tilly’s life.

MARC (27)

Tilly’s ponytailed musician-slash-janitor boyfriend. Alas for Marc, it’s more of a one-sided friends-with-benefits situation these days, all in Tilly’s favor. But his optimism balances out Tilly’s cynicism, and he actually kind of has his act together. That is, until Milk Tooth comes to call.

MOM (50s)

Mrs. Anderson did the whole American Dream, pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps thing, and is now a ball-busting lawyer. She puts work first, and family… later. (Saying she puts family “second” would be rating it too high. Family comes somewhere after paperwork.)

DAD (50s)

Mr. Anderson is loving, cheery, and always ready with an apple or a protein shake to fix everything. Which actually isn’t all that helpful in Tilly’s current situation. His most defining characteristics are obliviousness and a fear of mortality, which he does his best to fight o  with vitamins, steroids, and endless bike rides to nowhere.
